A passionate and inspired communicator.

Persues, the company mascot, is a 7 year old African Grey Parrot who has been a loving companion since he was 5 months old.

The intelligence of African Grey Parrots is legendary and they are every bit as smart as their reputations make them out to be. Perseus doesn't mimic my speech, he steals the words out of my mouth.

Perseus's favorite food is oranges and he especially likes clementines. He sings, dances and clicks his fingers when he likes the music that we are playing. Actually what Perseus does to click his fingers is that he makes the gesture with his foot that we make when we are clicking our fingers and then makes the click sound with those amazing vocal cards of his. His favorite song to sing is "Who let the birds out? Squawk Squawk Squawk." It is pretty funny watching a bird imitate a human imitating a bird.

His ability to reproduce sound is remarkable. We have squeaky kitchen cupboard doors and whenever Perseus does not get his own way, he makes that sound.

Perseus fools us by calling people in our home by name in someone else's voice. Then he will laugh at his own joke.

His favourite toy right now is s bunch of brightly coloured wooden blocks that hang on leather strips that he enjoys chewing on.

African Grey Parrots are, in fact, so intelligent that behavioral scientists are teaching them to read. You can learn more about research into African Grey Parrot intelligence at the Alex Foundation.
