Teacher, Artist...

Teacher: Judith loves teaching and works with both adults and children to share her knowledge and love of art. Judith is offering many art classes through the Town of Ajax. You can see the latest classes available on the Lessons Page.

Artist: Judith A. Jewer is a visual artist. She is fascinated with the process of seeing, and takes great pleasure in the visual world - especially the natural world. Judith uses drawing and painting as a means of seeing more clearly what she is looking at. Largely working "Plein air" which simply means "out-of-doors" in French -- Judith paints using acrylics and has been exploring landscape motifs of Ajax and Pickering locations. Many of Judith's artworks are completed out of doors on location and finished in one sitting. A painting finished in one sitting is a process artists call "alla prima." Judith also creates works of art in the studio.

Judith's art has been influenced by many different artists. She especially loves the "Group of Seven" and the "French Impressionists." She also loves Emily Carr's work and paintings that capture the spiritual essence of the northern landscape.
